Love² is brewing: new beer launched to back YES vote

New Love² craft beer on tap and in bottles across Australia with all profits going to marriage equality campaign.

Like beer?  Love marriage equality?  We can drink to that.

A new limited edition beer called Love² is being launched across Australia today, Wednesday 4 October, with all proceeds going to the Australian Marriage Equality campaign.

The Good Beer Co., Australia’s only social enterprise beer company, has joined forces with Victorian craft brewers Bright Brewery and the YES campaign to launch the new mid-strength pale ale Love².

Peter Black from the Australian Marriage Equality Campaign  said: “The name says it all – Love squared. We’re stoked that The Good Beer Co and Bright Brewery have got behind a YES vote with this awesome beer!”

James Grugeon, Founder of The Good Beer Co,. said: “There are lots of ways to show your support for marriage equality.  The most important way of course is to vote YES.  But as we’re a beer company with a social conscience, we reckon the second best way is to have a Love² beer.

“We want people to drink responsibly and we also want them to vote responsibly. We hope that once Australia votes to support marriage equality, there’ll be plenty of newly-weds washing down their marriage vows with a Love² beer.

More than 30 groups, including brewers, pubs, bars, venues and craft beer media, are also getting behind the launch.

Scott Brandon from Bright Brewery said: “Appropriately, Love² is a refreshing pale ale with a little bit of sweet malts that make this beer very easy to love. We love brewing it, we love drinking it, and we love sharing it with everyone, no matter what their preferences. We’re very proud to be brewing it for The Good Beer Co and adding our support to this important campaign for equality.”

Love² beer is being launched on tap at Collective Kitchen & Bar at Ann St in Brisbane at 5.30pm on Wednesday 4th October and at 18 supporting venues in Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

The beer is also on sale online for pre orders in 50 litre kegs and cartons of 24x330ml bottles at www.thegoodbeerco.com.au/love

The profits from Love² beer will go to the Australian Marriage Equality Campaign to support its work to bring about a YES vote in the postal survey and, ongoing, support the cause of equality for LGBTI communities across Australia.
